Tonight at 7:05 the Orioles will begin their first three-game series of the year.
Right-handed Ubaldo Jimenez will face the Yankees young Luis Severino. Severino gave up six earned runs to Baltimore through 12 and 2/3 innings last year. The Orioles power lineup will look to continue that success Friday night as you can expect a similar lineup to the one used on opening day. The Yankees, on the other hand, have also been quite successful versus Jimenez with a .321 average. Predicting a high scoring game and win here for the Orioles. 8-5 Os Win.
Saturday at 4:05 the Orioles will feature their current #1 starter, Kevin Gausman. The Yankees starter, Masahiro Tanaka, will look to bounce back from his rough, seven earned runs first start. Tanaka has been dominant against this current Orioles lineup, Adam Jones is the most successful Orioles hitter versus Tanaka with a .231 average. The Yankees have been a tad more successful versus Gausman but still only feature an overall .232 average against the Orioles righty. I think this will be a harder game to win, especially with how little the Os hitters like to grant run support for Gausman. 3-1 Os Lose.
The final game of the series will take place on what looks to be a beautiful day at 1:35 in Camden. The pitchers are yet to be listed but it is likely that Dylan Bundy will face CC Sabathia. The Orioles can certainly tag Sabathia up for some runs, posting a lifetime .271 average against the veteran. Bundy himself might be coming from his best start thus far into his career when he posted 8 Ks and only allowed one run through seven innings versus the Blue Jays Wednesday. I think the Os take this one decisively. 5-2 Os Win.
