Orioles: Opening Day Lineup, Starters, Time to Watch

Baseball season is finally back!

On Sunday, three Major League Baseball regular season games took place. First the New York Yankees and the the Tampa Bay Rays squared off at Tropicana Field (Tampa Bay won, 7-3). Then in the second matchup, the San Francisco Giants took on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field (Arizona won, 6-5). Lastly, the Chicago Cubs took on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium (St. Louis won, 4-3).

Today, the main event for Baltimoreans will begin.

The Baltimore Orioles will begin their 2017 campaign with a new look atop the lineup. Leading off will be offseason acquisition, right fielder Seth Smith (.261/.344/.447 in 2016). Surprise! Another surprise is that left fielder Hyun Soo Kim (.302/.382/.420 in 2016) has been dropped considerably far in the lineup.

Considering the fact that Kim got on-base at a .382 clip in 2016, one would expect him to leadoff. However, one should also expect the unexpected with Orioles manager Buck Showalter.
